What children say about the five principal,
universal values
Truth
Don't tell lies. Don't blame others. Be true to yourself and others. Honesty is the best policy. Recognise that there are two sides of a coin.
Daniel,
Aged 10
Love
Love is caring, sharing, making new friends and helping each other. Love is being kind to nature and the environment. Love is looking after others.
Kelly and Nadine,
Aged 10
Peace
Peace is a problem shared. Peace brings people together. Peace is to love each other and forget the blame. Peace is not worrying all week Peace is holding hands. Peace is to care about your actions.
Pupils from Sonning Common Primary School,
Berkshire.
Right Conduct
Right conduct means all the values squashed together in one clump. Behave with each other, with teachers and parents. When you are at peace, when you're loving, when you're truthful, when you're non-violent, you are using right conduct.
Natalie and Rebecca,
Aged 10
Non-Violence
If someone treads on your toe, you don’t just turn round and give him a blow. It may not be his fault. So halt. He might say sorry. But if not, don’t worry.
Kajan and Neil,
Aged 10
What the children say about the EHV programme
I feel it has made me a totally different person and it has changed my whole life totally… I cannot say how much it has helped me. When I would hurt someone or call them names, I have been able to control myself and say, “Would I like this done to me?” It would be 'no', so I don't do it.
Gilaan,
Aged 11
The 'Human Values' have helped everyone, including pupils, teachers and parents. They have taught me that if we used all the values at least most of the time, our world would be a better place.
Laura,
Aged 11
I think personally the programme has made our school a lot more cheerful and I think it's a success. It could improve schools with violence and name calling.
Timmy,
Aged 10
They're really fun and exciting. They have helped me be kind to others.
Adam,
Aged 10
I feel the Human Values are great. They have helped me a lot by making me a better person.
